continued care for your teen

Continued care after hospitalization is very important for your teen to learn new ways of coping other than suicidal behavior. When young people receive outpatient follow-up visits soon after emergency department visits, they are less likely to have future emergency department visits. It also is important for your teen to remain in therapy long enough to learn new ways of coping. Please contact your Care Support Manager if you need assistance locating a therapist for your son or daughter, or if there are other things that make it difficult to get your teen into treatment. It is important to continue with care.

Likewise, if your teen has been prescribed medication for emotional or behavioral difficulties, it’s important that your teen take the medication exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Contact your prescribing physician for questions related to medication for your teen. For more information about medicine for mental health issues, click here.
